Petticoats and Crinolines in Films
Please take notice: These films mostly contain lovely visions of bouffant skirts, particularly of the 50's style, and MIGHT show peeks of petticoats. Very few show full petti-views (these will be noted). We are also now adding films which feature classic crinolines and petticoat as well. You might also review the corsetfilm list located at www.staylace.com/films/indexfiles/a/index.html
Many of the corset-era productions show gowns and petticoats as well!
Any rating comments obviously refer to the quality of the film vis-ā-vis frou-frou.

Ms. Martin has
several good

| 1953 | MISSISSIPPI GAMBLER --
Plenty of period
costumes, although I think they got the styles a little wrong for the
1850s as most of the skirts seem to have a small bustle, which I think
came later. However, the dresses are still wonderful, and there is one
scene where one of the actresses twirls round and round in her beautiful
dress, showing the pettis like we square dancers do. Review by Kerian |

| 1996 | MRS. SANTA CLAUS -- Despite her plain appearance, what's underneath speaks otherwise! The entire movie has petticoats here and there, but they're especially prominent at the Tavish Toy Factory dance (where the pictures are from), and mass population dancing in the streets to an earlier number. There are lots of things to see thanks to Angela's carefree nature, whisking her skirts around without a second thought. Review by J. H. | ANGELA LANSBURY | |||
