Dara: "Here is a curious Brazilian TV soap.  One of the story lines involves a boy who has been brought up as a girl (for convoluted reasons hardly worth explaining).  As a teenager he is beginning to realise that he is not like the other girls.  Someone has helpfully strung together all his scenes in a series of YouTube videos.  "In Part 2 we get a glimpse of petticoat around 3:44.  We can also see just how thorough the costume department were!  Apparently in this scene the boy is describing a strange hot feeling down below."

Good dance vidclip from Shelley Rebecca: "It seems that 1950's inspired 'prom' style wedding dresses are gaining in popularity and Candy Anthony is a London-based designer who is producing a lot of totally delicious dresses.  The catwalk shows on her website are all worth a look, with plenty of bouffant petticoats helping to display the dresses to a elegantly flounced effect.  I'm having difficulty deciding on my favourite collection!"

Can anyPoufie help this person? "I am looking for vintage Seventeen magazine covers dating from the year 1965. I recently acquired a vintage prom dress that was the featured prom dress for Seventeen and graced the cover in an early spring issue of 1965. It would mean the world to the original owner to have a copy of the cover. I saw The Pond's picture from Seventeen in April 1965, but the dress I have is full-length, and not the bouffant cocktail length more common to the 1950s. The dress was worn with a crinoline underneath, so the skirt would have been fuller. The owner said she is almost certain it was on the cover, and she knows it was the prom dress for 1965. Please let me know if you can provide any information. Thank you so much for your assistance - I truly appreciate it.   P.S. Another good vidclip, pointed to by Bo Persson - German hoopskirt this time! Elaine Flowers: "Welsh commercial channel 4 (S4C) runs a program on Thursday's at 1830hrs entitled Retro where a rather pretty female presenter picks a family and they open a time pod (Pod Amser) and in the pod is a date (say from 1955-1959). The presenter then proceeds to  dress the family in the clothes of that randomly selected era!  Not seen the 50's programs as yet but the 1860-1865 episode was good, although its was in Welsh and I only understand a little (Siarad Cymraeg dippen bach = I speak a little Welsh)."

Ken writes: "You already have this one up in the magazine ad section, including the version I sent giving info on the famous photographer Paul Horst. Here's a nice version on a site devoted to him and his work. Nice bio and other info, including this photo which is titled 'Round The Clock.' That's the name of the nylons in the ad. I guess this photo was made by him for that ad. Nice to get a clean copy here."

Linda points to this rather interesting, but oddly-worded 'eBay guide' dealing with petticoats. The first paragraph declares that there is some kind of petticoat 'craze' sweeping the world (were it so!  ... although there certainly is a certain amount of haute couture interest these days), and proceeds from there, ending the article with the word 'fad' (perhaps the writer is attempting to 'hype' her sales).   Nonetheless, there IS information here.

Darling Annalai writes: "The charm bracelet is back again! I guess many have seen them already.  By the 1950s, the charm bracelet was a must-have accessory for girls and women. Well I have my own charm bracelet, and looking at charms I would like to have I found this cute tutu one. I have seen it for real but not bought it yet and it does look better then on the pictures. So now even if I can not wear a petticoat daily I can at least wear one on my arm."
